Rotary Park Construction
07/13/2017: Construction on Rotary Park has started. Dismantling of playground equipment has begun as well as restricting access to specific play areas of the park. Parking lot, trails and other amenities are still accessible. For safety reasons, always adhere to construction signs, boundaries and workers at all times.
The Town of Stony Plain is starting construction on Rotary Park this summer. The construction project will start on the second week of July (2017) and end in the fall. This project includes improvements to the:
- Parking lot
- Benches, waste cans, and picnic amenities
Also, the Canada 150 mural will be installed into the park and the existing mural on site will be refurbished and relocated. Details on the reveal of the Canada 150 mural will be available at a later date.
Please note: Access to the parking lot and the playground will be limited at this time. However, the park, Visitor Information Centre, and Chamber of Commerce will remain open.
This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada's Community Infrastructure Program.
About Rotary Park
Rotary Park is a beautiful park conveniently located at just off the main entrance (48 Street / Hwy 779) into town.
Amenities include a pond, surrounded by a short paved walking trail with park benches, a playground, a gazebo, a picnic area and large open-space green areas. It is the perfect place to stop, relax, and unwind. Feed the ducks and geese or read a good book while sitting on a park bench or lying on blanket on the grass.
In winter, the Town maintains the frozen pond as a skating area, which is popular with locals and visitors alike.
Rotary Park is also home to offices of the Stony Plain and District Chamber of Commerce and the Stony Plain Visitor Information Centre.
Like all Town Parks, Rotary Park is a public facility, it cannot be booked or reserved. If you or someone you know is considering using Rotary Park for a special occasion, please contact Community and Protective Services at 780.963.8604 (send an email) to help coordinate your request to ensure that all prospective users wishing to use the park can be accommodated.
