Outdoor Skating Rinks
Westerra, JPII, Forest Green, and Rotary Rink are CLOSED.
Centennial Memorial is OPEN.
Meridian will be opened when the outside temperature drops. The asphalt surface prevents the ice from freezing in warmer weather.
Weather Parameters for closures:
- Excess snow, attendants will not have enough time to get all rinks cleaned and opened.
- Weather below -20 (without wind chill)
- Rinks will also be closed if the weather is too warm causing the ice to melt and become dangerous.
The rinks being closed means that they will not be cleared as the ice is dangerous to skate on and the shacks will not be opened by attendants.
Outdoor rinks are used by residents for public skating, shinny and casual hockey.
Heated changing rooms are available at all outdoor rinks.
