The 4th quarter permit results are available and show some of the highest results since 2008. The Town of Stony Plain posted its highest year-end total housing starts at 381 as well as the highest construction values since 2008.
The total construction value for the 381 permits (64 of which were processed in the 4th quarter of 2015) and amounts to 61 million dollars. Seven commercial and industrial permits were issued with a value of 8.7 million.
“The trend over the past six or seven years has been on an upward swing,” says Paul Hanlan, General Manager of Planning & Infrastructure. “With the economy in the position it’s in now we are pleased to see this continuous and steady growth.”
The Town of Stony Plain anticipates a slight slow-down for permits issued in the 1st quarter of 2016; however, historical data shows continued investment confidence and quick market recoveries once the economy has entered its correction phase.
Stony Plain Investing in Infrastructure
The Town of Stony Plain currently has 420 serviced residential lots available, including 77 med-high density lots. These serviced lots provided shovel ready land for developers looking to invest in the Town of Stony Plain. There are currently 66 serviced commercial lots available in The Town.
The Town has outlined in its Strategic and Corporate Plan ongoing investment in infrastructure throughout the community to support both residential and commercial growth.
“We’re confident growth will continue for the Town, because of this, we are making ongoing strategic infrastructure investments to ensure we have the capacity to support it,” says Mayor William Choy.
