Last night, Cheryl Pronovost, received the Matthew Claus Award at the Town of Stony Plain Long Service Awards & Recognition Banquet. Pronovost is the current Youth Services Coordinator for the Town of Stony Plain Family & Community Support Services (FCSS).
Pronovost is committed to the health of the Stony Plain community. Not only has she served the Town of Stony Plain Youth Centre for more than ten years, but she’s an active member on a variety of committees, including the Tri-Municipal Drug Strategy Council (DSC), Parkland Area Response to Family Violence Committee (PARFVC), Violence Threat Risk Assessment Committee (VTRA), and more.
Town Manager, Tom Goulden, says, “We’re honoured to present Cheryl Pronovost with the Matthew Claus Award. Cheryl is kind and hardworking. She cares for the community, and it shows.” Goulden continues, “The Stony Plain Youth Centre has thrived with her management and support, and we’re very thankful to have her working with the Town of Stony Plain.
On April 19, 2016, Matthew Claus, Manager of Planning, passed away. Claus was a compassionate person who took pride in his work. He treated his co-workers with respect and he believed in public service. Last year, the Town of Stony Plain founded the Matthew Claus Award to honour his legacy. The award is presented to an employee who demonstrates qualities of Matthew Claus, including passion and kindness.
