The Town of Stony Plain’s Councillor Dwight Ganske is entering his second term as the Chair of the Housing Committee for the Capital Region Board. The Committee is charged with guiding, overseeing and implementing the Housing Plan through policy leadership. The housing plan is a 10-year regional housing plan designed to identify housing priorities for the Capital Region with the intent of receiving support through sub-regional planning.
“I am extremely pleased to be representing our region as the Chair of the Capital Region Board Housing Committee. With a voice at the table representing our area, it ensures the needs of our communities are being heard and frequently being met,” says Councillor Dwight Ganske.
Additional responsibilities of the committee include the facilitation of education opportunities and the sharing of best practices among municipalities.
“The Parkland region, particularly Stony Plain, is proud of Councillor Ganske’s leadership in the role as the Housing Committee Chair. This type of representation on a broader regional level is what we need to ensure our voices are heard throughout the Capital Region,” says Mayor W. Choy.
The Capital Region Board is a 24-municipality member board created to prepare and implement an integrated Capital Region Growth Plan with the initial priorities being: Land Use, Intermunicipal Transit/Transportation Services, Non-Market and Market-Affordable Housing and Geographic Information Services.
