Family and Community Support Services’ (FCSS) is expanding the Home Support Program. The service, which previously offered only light housekeeping, will now include companionship, meal preparation, homemaking, and subsidized transportation. These additional services are made possible because FCSS awarded a contract to Nurse Next Door, a full-service in-home nursing company. The services are available to Stony Plain and Parkland County residents immediately.
“The Home Support program has been serving Stony Plain and Parkland County residents for eight years,” says Deanna Butz, Community Development Coordinator for FCSS. “Our recent contract with home care services provider, Nurse Next Door, has allowed us to expand the program. We are now offering more services to more community members.”
Because of the new contract, more residents in Stony Plain and Parkland County can receive Home Support services. The Home Support Program will now offer services to residents on the waiting list and new intakes.
“FCSS’s mission is to support residents throughout each life stage,” says Butz. “Prior to this contract with Nurse Next Door, we contracted Home Support services on a case-by-case basis, which resulted in many limitations. Now, we have the opportunity to fully contribute to the health of our community.”
