This year, the annual Farmers’ Days Rodeo & Exhibition is expected to attract greater numbers than it has in the past. The event, which is sponsored by the Town of Stony Plain and the Stony Plain Kinsmen Club, will take place from June 3 to 5 at Heritage Park in Stony Plain.
“Farmers’ Days is an opportunity for born and raised Albertans to return home and reconnect with the community. With The Town of Stony Plain steadily increasing in population, we’ve seen a corresponding increase in Farmers’ Days attendance,” says Tevra Graham, Community Services Coordinator.
The three-day festival features a variety of events, including carnival games, a rodeo, live entertainment, and beer gardens. Many aspects of Farmers’ Days remain unchanged; however, corporate interest in the event has allowed the activities and events to grow and develop. This year, in particular, attendees will notice changes made to the Kids Korral.
“Thanks to our sponsors, we’ve been able to expand the kids’ zone to include a variety of interactive activities,” says Melanie Samson, Program Manager of Community and Protective Services. “As a result, we expect more families to attend the festival.”
Due to anticipated attendance numbers, there will be no parking available at Heritage Park. Instead, The Town of Stony Plain will run a “Park N Ride” program for the duration of the event.
