The Town of Stony Plain in conjunction with FortisAlberta and Davey Tree Service, is proud to host the Annual Christmas Tree Chipping event. Mayor William Choy along with representatives from FortisAlberta and Davey Tree will participate in the tree chipping.
DATE: Friday, January 27, 2017.
TIME: 9:00 a.m.
PLACE: Public Works, 4505-50 Ave
“Christmas tree recycling is an easy and an environmentally-friendly alternative for residents to dispose of their trees,” says Mayor Choy. “Each year through this program, we are able to divert hundreds of Christmas trees away from landfills for reuse in our community. We appreciate our partners’ involvement in this program and their shared commitment to environmental responsibility.”
FortisAlberta is donating the equipment and time for the event, while Davey Tree will be doing the tree chipping. Each year, residents can take advantage of this “green” project, dropping off their Christmas trees after the holidays. The tree chips are used in the Town’s park landscaping.
Choy goes on to say, “the homeowners who participate in this program are being environmentally responsible, just as they are when they recycle their plastics, paper and cardboard.”
FortisAlberta is pleased to support tree chipping for several Alberta communities, including Stony Plain. Not only does this program keep Christmas trees from landfills, but the resulting mulch in community landscaping projects helps to further create a beautiful environment.
