Five years in a row the Town of Stony Plain and its Corporate Services are the proud recipient of the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting.
Annually, this award is chosen by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for providing high-quality financial reports to the public. Often, the financial reports are presented within an Annual Report of the entire Corporation.
“This achievement should be given the recognition it deserves. It means we are leaders in Government financial reporting,” says Mayor William Choy. “This is just one of many reports we use to educate, engage and promote transparency to our residents. We are proud to receive this award in recognition of the work we do.”
“For the 5th year in a row, Corporate Services and Communications have worked diligently and enthusiastically towards developing a high-quality annual report. It is truly a collaborative effort,” says Corporate Communications Officer Stephanie Barsby Boisvert. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to continuously serve our community as leaders in the government sector.”
The annual financial report is judged by an impartial Canadian review committee. The criteria for the award include demonstrating constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the municipality’s financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
