This winter Stony Plain residents will have an additional way to stay in the “snow” when it comes to winter maintenance. #StonySnowScoop is a new communications program to provide up-to-date information on snow clearing efforts, enhance winter safety and to educate residents on how they can help keep Stony Plain moving safely this winter.
“Stony Plain is a winter Town. We care about the safety of our residents and will work diligently to maintain this, even during significant weather,” says Mayor W. Choy. “Everyone can do their part by following Town winter bylaws, volunteering to shovel for seniors and mobility impaired persons and encouraging others to do so as well.”
Some of the efforts included in the #StonySnowScoop program include:
- Educational material for children on how to play safe in the snow distributed to area schools and organizations
- “SnowFacts” reference guide for residents regarding snow removal priorities distributed to various locations throughout the Town for pickup
- Ongoing social media updates including up-to-date information on snow-clearing efforts during significant weather
- Educational materials on how residents can take part in volunteer programs for shoveling
The program will run from now until mid-spring or until the winter weather subsides.
Residents can access the complete snow removal schedule by downloading the “MyWaste” app which also outlines when your curbside collection is happening in your neighbourhood or by visiting www.stonyplain.com.
