Town opens, accepts nominations for 2013 Ambassador of Action Business Award
The Town of Stony Plain wants you to nominate a local business for the 2013 Ambassador of Action Award. The Town’s annual award acknowledges the outstanding contributions of a local business in supporting and strengthening both local business and the community as a whole.
“When local businesses invest in their operations, they also invest in Stony Plain and the community’s future,” says William Choy, mayor of Stony Plain.
“This year’s award recipient will be recognized for outstanding innovation and achievements that help place Stony Plain at the forefront of economic development. The Town celebrates creative successes and development of local business.”
The Town presents the Ambassador of Action Business Award annually to a local business that makes an impact on its business and the community through demonstrated improvement, innovation and expansion. The intent is to acknowledge the many hard-working people who continually exhibit passion for business excellence and who advance responsible business practices and leadership.
“There are many businesses in Stony Plain that have transformed and advanced their operations to be more competitive, and the Town wants to highlight these stories and applaud their successes,” Choy says. “We encourage all residents, customers, employees and business-owners to nominate a local business they believe is an Ambassador of Action.”
“We were proud to be the first recipient of this prestigious award,” says Brenda Hawryluk, marketing manager for Selmac Sales, Ltd., which won the Award in 2009. “We were truly excited to receive such an honour and cherish this award. It continues to be a daily reminder to us of what we have accomplished over the years, and it keeps us focused on where we want to be in the future.”
The Town launched the program in 2009 and enhanced the nomination criteria and application process this year. Nominated businesses must demonstrate improvements or impacts in the following areas:
• Investment(s) in the business’s building(s) or facility(ies);
• Job creation;
• New or enhanced product- or service-offerings; and
• Generated profile as a result of their success
Nominations may be submitted online at stonyplain.com by 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30. This year’s award will be presented at the 2013 Chambers of Commerce Awards Gala, jointly hosted by the Stony Plain and Spruce Grove and Districts Chambers of Commerce, on Saturday, Nov. 16.
