Who We Are
The Town of Stony Plain's Public Works (Operations) division provides essential and tangible daily services to the community - those which its residents, businesses and visitors need, expect and deserve. The unit implements those projects which council desires to see in the community and manages and deploys the resources required to make them happen - within the financial parameters established by council. Public Works delivers these services while protecting the environment and ensuring compliance with all federal, provincial and municipal government regulations.
Essentially, the Public Works team works hard to maintain and improve the quality of life for citizens of Stony Plain. Staff take great pride in their work and are committed to enhancing the community.
Reporting to the Director of Planning and Infrastructure, the Manager of Operations oversees Public Works employees and is responsible for ensuring that Town infrastructure is maintained and functioning at maximum efficiency and that services are delivered effectively.
In 2009, the Town of Stony Plain developed a 10-year municipal infrastructure plan, which it follows to assess the condition of the community's existing roadways, sidewalks, sanitary sewers, storm water systems and water mains. The Plan identifies and prioritizes various infrastructure repair and rehabilitation projects and is consulted during the Town's annual budget-making process.
What we do
The Public Works division performs a wide variety of infrastructure maintenance, traffic and safety-related functions. The division is responsible for, although not limited to, the following core functions:

- providing safe drinking water, in compliance with government regulations
