Signs and Traffic Signals
The Town places a high priority on maintaining traffic safety within the community.
Public Works is responsible for traffic signals, traffic signs and lane-marking of all streets in Stony Plain, except for Hwy. 779 (48 Street) and Hwy. 628 (79 Avenue), which are maintained by Alberta Transportation.
Technicians program the timing and perform preventive maintenance of traffic signals and pedestrian-operated controlled intersections.
Staff conduct an annual inspection of all street signs as part of their preventative maintenance duties.
Traffic line painting is performed by contractors two times a year. Additional line painting is completed on an as-needed-basis.

Report a Problem
Town crews replace or repair traffic regulating signs and signals quickly. To report any signs that have been knocked down or traffic signals that are not functioning properly, contact Public Works at 780.963.2469 or, send an email. Callers are encouraged to leave their full name and contact information so the Town can follow-up with them on how the Town is addressing the issue or solving the problem.
