Our StaffThe Town of Stony Plain is made up of staff with a wide range of professional experience, knowledge and skills; however, each employee is committed to core principles and to ensuring the highest quality of life for citizens of Stony Plain - through the provision of efficient, effective and affordable municipal services.
Our staff are dedicated to providing a local municipal government that is open, accessible and beneficial to all. We work hard to meet the needs of our community - for both present and future residents - through an environment that promotes integrity, respect, sensitivity and fairness. Our success depends upon high-performing staff, who work together in a workplace where diversity, professional and personal development, teamwork and effort are valued and recognized.
Through fiscal responsibility of all municipal revenues, we are prudent and effective in the use of the resources that citizens have entrusted to the municipality to govern. We work hard to deliver superior performance and are accountable for our actions and results. We set clearly definable goals and expectations and seek and value feedback from citizens on how we can improve our service. Two-way communication, cooperation and community partnerships form the basis upon which we work and plan.
Although our focus is delivering core municipal services effectively and efficiently, we are also involved in initiatives that enrich our community, including:
- Relay for Life
Each year, the Town of Stony Plain's Extreme Green team participates in the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay For Life. More than a fundraiser, this annual event is an opportunity to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back in the hope of finding a cure for this terrible disease. The relay is fun and fulfilling and gives strength to our mission to eradicate cancer. Our staff join other members of the community in an inspirational 12-hour overnight walk in the fight to make cancer history. Learn more
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mos,” these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer. Our male staff start with a clean-shaven face on November 1. For the rest of the month, these Mo Bros groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by Mo Sistas - our female staff and other women, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts. Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health. The funds raised in Canada support the number one male cancer, prostate cancer, and are directed to programs run directly by Movember and Prostate Cancer Canada. Learn more
