PROVINCE BEGINS UPGRADING OF FIFTH MERIDIAN
The Town of Stony Plain shares the concerns of those who may be fed up with the poor and potentially unsafe conditions along the Fifth Meridian. Like the people who call this community home, Town Council, administration and staff also use this primary route through town.
What many may not know is that 48 Street is a Provincial highway, and that the responsibility for maintaining and improving the road belongs to Alberta Transportation.
The Town has dialogued with the Province for many years about upgrading this road, and is, therefore, very pleased that upgrading of this major route will finally begin this summer, commencing Aug. 23. This year, Alberta Transportation will focus on improving the section from Highway 16A up to the CNR tracks, with a scheduled completion date of Oct. 31. As delays can be expected, the Town kindly asks all motorists to be patient as this project is underway. Contact Alberta Transportation for more details. More
