Transit in Stony Plain SM graphic 1Transit services are coming soon to Stony Plain. Set to launch in September 2020, the service will be the Town’s first transit system for the general public. The route for the new transit service is still under development, and Council wants to hear from residents.

Fire Services Master Plan
In 2019, the Town engaged Behr Integration Solutions Inc. to complete a Master Plan to serve as a ‘blueprint’ for Fire, Rescue, Medical Mutual Aid, Fire Prevention, and Public Safety services. The Master Plan was presented to Council at last night’s meeting.

The Town of Stony Plain will once again host their Annual Christmas Tree Chipping Event to help residents dispose of their Christmas trees. Mayor William Choy, along with members of Town of Stony Plain Administration, will participate in the tree chipping event.

The numbers are in: Stony Plain’s residential permits are valued at $26 million and industrial has climbed to $10 million. Both figures represent significant increases compared to previous years. Residential permits are the highest the Town has seen since 2015 and industrial permits are notably high, the 8-figure dollar value not seen on record since 2004.

Alberta Transportation has informed the Town that streetlight installation along Highway 779 (48 Street) is underway. TB Traffic will be working on streetlight bases along the east side of Highway 779, from Genesis Lake Boulevard to Highway 628 (79 Avenue) for the next few weeks. Crews will be working on the shoulder of the road but will ensure that there is one full lane in each direction open to traffic at all times. All work will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
