Construction Begins on Nondenominational Municipal Cemetery

STONY PLAIN, AB: Construction is underway on the new nondenominational municipal cemetery. Located on Rosenthal Road (Range Road 12), Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed by October 2025, and the cemetery is anticipated to open in 2026.

STONY PLAIN, AB: Stony Plain will soon become home to a Forest of Hope — the fourth of its kind in Canada. The forest will be officially planted on September 10, 2025, for World Suicide Prevention Day and will be located in the green space directly north of the Stony Plain courthouse.

Suspicious Vehicle Fire in Stony Plain’s North Business Park

At approximately 1:18 a.m. on May 8, the Stony Plain Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a fire accompanied by loud explosions in the North Business Park, specifically along Boulder Boulevard. Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered four vehicles fully engulfed in flames, with a fifth vehicle sustaining damage.
No injuries were reported, and no nearby buildings were affected by the incident.
