Tri-Municipal Transit Plan

In 2018, Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, and Parkland County met and worked together to brainstorm an approach bringing transit to the Tri-Municipal region. At last night’s Council Meeting, Council accepted the Tri- Municipal Region Transit update for information. It lays out a plan on how to move forward with public transportation, making our neighbouring communities more accessible for September 2020. Council Dives into Storm Water Solutions; New storm rate model outlines full cost recovery

After our community experienced damages from flooding as a result of inclement weather this year, Administration has been researching storm rate models to account for the impacts of weather and aging infrastructure. After much deliberation and the comparing of approaches, Council has been presented with a proposal to move to a tiered flat fee model which would establish a more equitable distribution of full cost recovery.

Stony Plain’s Toys for Tickets program returns for the 2019 holiday season
‘Tis the season to trade toys for tickets! Stony Plain Enforcement Services’ annual Toys for Tickets is back for round four and ready to bring some holiday cheer to the community. Municipal parking tickets issued between October 29 and November 22 can be paid off with a new toy of $25 value. All donations will contribute to the Stony Plain Kinsmen Club’s annual Christmas Hampers.

Downtown Redevelopment October 15 Update

Paving and line painting has been completed to 52 Avenue and the rest of 50 Street will be paved next week. Concrete sandblasting work continues and benches are now being installed. Soil cells have been installed and the east side sidewalk is poured. Next we will see the pouring of concrete planters and prepping the base for the west sidewalk. Trees will be planted in the Spring. All construction is weather dependent.
Parkland RCMP Detachment Grand Opening

Today, community leaders and employees of the Parkland RCMP invited members of the public to the grand opening event at the newly built detachment.
The detachment, located at 91 Campsite Road, Spruce Grove, has consolidated employees from the previous Stony Plain and Spruce Grove detachments along with Traffic Services, formerly located in Edmonton and Evansburg.
The municipally funded building is 4,665 square metres, will house roughly 160 employees and cost approximately $22 million to build. The...
