Downtown Redevelopment Update October 31

Paving is underway today as part of the final stages of Downtown Redevelopment Phase III. All sidewalks have been poured and planters and benches have been completed. There will be coloured concrete poured this week at 52 Avenue as well as decorative sandblasting on Sunday, weather permitting. Final finish work including line painting, site cleanup, electrical work, and fence removal will follow in the next week. The road is set to be open to traffic the week of November 11.
Highway 779 Update October 30

Alberta Transportation has informed the Town that weather conditions have halted operations on Highway 779 for 2019 construction season. There will be some final work completed this week including sign installation, line painting between Willow Park Road South and 57 Ave, and pot hole repair before the site is cleaned up. TB Traffic will be installing streetlights beginning mid-November along both sides of the highway between Highway 628 (79 Avenue) and 57 Avenue. Any lane closures or traffic disruptions...

After a year of legalization, Council requested a review of all cannabis-related legislation by the end of 2019. Currently, Stony Plain charges a Cannabis Retail/Production Fee for any cannabis retailer or production facility. With three dispensaries already settled in town, the timing to review business licensing was appropriate. 57 Avenue Extension October 23 Update

Road construction is continuing. Weather and site conditions have set back the completion of the road. The Town is working closely with Alberta Infrastructure on the school/parking lot design and accesses. The extension of 57 Avenue to the new school site should be completed to a gravel state by the end of this construction season. Paving and completion of the road extension will be scheduled for the spring of 2020.
