The Stony Plain Lions Club makes their final donation for the HandiVan

The Town of Stony Plain is excited to recognize the completion of the support received from the Stony Plain Lions Club. The Club committed $60,000 towards the MV1 HandiVan which was purchased in 2016 to replace an old unit. This is the second unit the club has graciously supported.
On Monday March 11th at 4 PM, members of the Lions Club presented a $20,000 cheque to Council to cover the final cost of the HandiVan. Both parties also had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the van.

“Connect with Council” at the 2019 Tri-Municipal Expo

Every April, the Stony Plain and Spruce Grove & District Chambers of Commerce partner to host the Tri-Municipal Expo. This 3-day event is an opportunity for the Town of Stony Plain to network with residents, stakeholders, and community partners.

Award for 2017 Annual Report
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Town’s Corporate Services department the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting. This is the seventh year that the Town has received this award for the Annual Report. Poet Laureate Presents Her First Official Poem

Poet Laureate Lisa Mulrooney addresses Council for the first time at the Governance and Priorities Meeting Monday night. This officially launched her tenure as Stony Plain’s Poet Laureate. Mulrooney is the Town’s first and only the 6th in the province.

Appointment of Deputy Mayor
Councillor Bruce Lloy is now the Deputy Mayor for the Town of Stony Plain. The position of Deputy Mayor rotates among Council with each serving a four month term. The order is determined by a draw of names. Councillor Lloy was elected in 2012 to Stony Plain Council in a by-election.
