Healing from Crime and Trauma Community Expo Creates Opportunities for Healing and Connection

A new community expo dedicated to supporting those impacted by crime is coming to the Tri-Municipal Region. The Healing from Crime and Trauma Community Expo will take place at the Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum grounds on Tuesday, May 17 from 4PM to 8PM.

RCMP Present First Quarterly Update for 2022
Inspector Lokken joined Council for a presentation of the first RCMP quarterly update for 2022. The update provides a closer look at crime statistics and RCMP activity in the community from January through to March. Updates are provided to council each quarter to monitor crime rates and compare statistics year over year.

New census data provides a closer look at demographics and housing in Stony Plain.
Stony Plain’s population has experienced growth across age groups between 2016 and 2021, the largest growth seen in the 65 years and older age group. The average resident age in Stony Plain has increased from 38.9 to 41.5.

Property Taxation Bylaw Sets Rates for 2022
First reading has been given to the Property Taxation Bylaw (Bylaw 2658/T AX/22). The bylaw authorizes the rates of taxation to be levied against property within Stony Plain for the 2022 taxation year.
A Tax Rate Split of 1.26 was used in calculating the 2022 tax bylaw, moving the rate towards a split of 1.35:1 to align Stony Plain with the average of urban municipalities of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB). The move from the 1.22 split...
