Statement from Mayor William Choy on fallen Edmonton Police Service Officers

It was with heavy hearts the Town received the news that Constable Travis Jordan and Constable Brett Ryan of the Edmonton Police Service were killed in the line of duty early this morning.
On behalf of Council, Administration, and the citizens of Stony Plain, we extend our deepest condolences to the families of these fallen officers, and the entire Edmonton Police Service.

Land Use Bylaw Omnibus 2023, Bylaw 2671/LUO/23 Given First Reading
The Land Use Bylaw (LUB) Omnibus is a yearly process which provides administrative updates to the LUB and may also include Strategic Pan implementation. Council has given first reading to Bylaw 2671/LUO/23 to repeal Land Use Bylaw 2654/LUO/22 in order to provide a clean version with the updates.
A public hearing for the proposed bylaw amendment will be held on April 11, 2023 in Council Chambers.

Asset Management Update for 2022
An overview of asset management activity in 2022 was presented to Council at last night’s meeting. Councillor Pat Hansard Appointed to Deputy Mayor
Councillor Pat Hansard has been appointed Deputy Chief Elected Official (Deputy Mayor). Councillors are appointed as Deputy Mayor for four-month terms to act as Mayor in the absence or incapacity of the Mayor. Councillor Hansard will serve until June 30, 2023 or until the appointment of the next Deputy Mayor.

Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum Present Overview of Expansion Project
Members of the Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum gave an overview of the 2023/2024 Facility Expansion Project. The Museum requires additional indoor space to showcase two new exhibits, Power in Parkland and military history. In addition, they are in need of a storage space to house a large collection of vehicles and machinery.
