STONY PLAIN, AB: The Town of Stony Plain is continuing proactive efforts to protect cherished trees through the Black Knot Awareness Campaign. Black Knot disease, caused by the fungus Apiosporina morbosa, manifests as greenish-brown to black swellings on tree stems, most commonly affecting cherry and fruit tree varieties.

Trans Alta Tri Leisure Centre 2025 Budget Presented to Council & Accepted for Information
At last night’s meeting, General Manager Leny Richer, and Board Chair Robb Hagg presented the proposed 2025 Trans Alta Tri Leisure Centre budget to Council. The 2025 budget request was accepted for information by Council and will be considered during the 2025-2027 Corporate Planning.

Significant Names Registry Updated
In 2020, Administration developed a Town Naming Policy to establish a coordinated and consistent naming process and framework. On October 24, 2022, Council established the Significant Names Registry. Names on the registry can be added or removed based on applications by the public and recommendations from Administration. Names may be applied to features such as trails, parks, and roads as per the Naming Policy.
