New Downtown Banners Celebrate the Spirit of Stony Plain

Downtown has a new look! A new series of banners are being installed along Main Street and the intersections of 50 to 53 Avenue to celebrate the completion of downtown and showcase the spirit of Stony Plain.
The banner designs are the work of local artists Angela Hall and Stephan Garneau who were selected through a public call-for-art in May of 2021. The submission guidelines called for designs that represented the community and captured life in Stony Plain.

Downtown Grand Opening Celebration

The Town of Stony Plain is excited to announce the grand opening of its new downtown. A community celebration featuring family-friendly activities, food trucks, and entertainment will take place on May 19 from 5PM to 8PM.
The evening of festivities will kick off with a blessing from Knowledge Keeper Phillip Campiou and ribbon cutting at the 50Street and 50 Avenue intersection. Guests will have the opportunity to discover downtown and win locally sourced goods with a postcard coming to resident mailboxes...

The Stony Plain Fire Department is investigating a house fire following an early morning blaze. Crews responded to the fire at 5:46AM.
“The home on St. Andrews Drive was fully engulfed upon arrival. Stony Plain housing starts point toward strong growth for the municipality in 2022.
First quarter residential construction comprised of 62 housing starts, including 13 single-detached dwellings and 49 high-density dwellings with a combined estimated construction value of $13.1 million. Compared to the first quarter of 2021, housing starts are down 3%; however, residential permit values are up.
