The Farmers’ Days Rotary Parade route has been finalized. With the Downtown Redevelopment set to begin, the Town is happy to announce the construction project contractor and the Town Parade organizers were successful in working together to allow for the Parade to make its way down the heart of the Town, Main Street.

The third phase of Stony Plain’s mural partnership with the Meridian Foundation, and local artist James Mackay, will be unveiled June 7 at 11:00 a.m.

The new two-sided mural, entitled “The Good Life”, is a visual representation of present day life for the Foundation’s residents and the advancement of available health care.  In May the residents and staff of the Meridian Foundation worked together with Mackay, owner of Outhere Art & Design, to paint the mural.

Main Street from 53 Avenue to just south of the 51 Avenue intersection will be closed for construction from approximately June 3 to the end of the 2019 construction season.

During this time there will also be modified pedestrian access to the area.

Downtown Redevelopment construction will involve a number of closures of the sidewalks in stages along both sides of Main Street including alley crossings.

The Don't Just Trash It! table will return to the Mayor's Pancake Breakfast at Farmers’ Days next weekend (June 1)! Enjoy pancakes cooked by our Town Council and know volunteers are using proper composting, recycling, and garbage practices. All plates, cutlery, napkins, and coffee/juice cups used at the Pancake Breakfast will be compostable. This has a direct impact on what ends up in the landfill! Alberta Transportation is still on track to start work up again on Hwy 779 on Tuesday, May 21^st. However, AT has informed the Town the scheduled has changed slightly from the previous update on May 13^th. AT will only be working on the storm line along the east side of Hwy 779 from Willow Park Road south to Hwy 628, and on the widening on the east side of  Hwy 779, south of Hwy 628.
