Land Use Bylaw Given Second and Third Reading
After an initial Public Hearing, the Land Use Bylaw was given second and third reading during last night’s meeting. Administration first began a comprehensive review of the bylaw in 2019 which concluded in early 2021. A preliminary draft was circulated to stakeholders in late January of 2021 and the feedback received informed changes to the draft by Administration. With Council’s approval, the update will repeal the current bylaw.

Annual Outdoor Movie Returns as a Three-Film Feature

The Town of Stony Plain is bringing back the annual Outdoor Movie, but this year community members are in for a three-film special feature.
This year’s Outdoor Movie will take place at Heritage Park on Saturday, August 7. The evening will kick off at 3PM with Little Rascals, followed by Grease at 6PM, and will wrap up with Inception at 9PM. A concession and donut truck will be on site to provide guests with much-needed movie snacks.

Highway 779 Update - July 8

Alberta Transportation has provided the following update on Highway 779 Construction:
Line painting will continue this Friday and Saturday, between Willow Park Road North and 55 Avenue, on both the north and southbound lanes.
Crews will pave the 7-11 access off 48 Street and the middle access at Park House Center on Monday, July 12.
Grading work in the boulevard on the west side of 48 Street, between 55 and 53 Avenue, will take place Monday, July 12 and Tuesday, July 13.

Storm main work continues after the high temperatures last week. Crews have returned to normal work hours. The project is on schedule for completion at the end of the construction season.
