49th Street Paving Complete

Paving the 49th Street entrance to Rotary Park and the Decker Centre business area has been completed. Line painting is also finished and the road is fully open to traffic. We thank you for your patience during construction.

Update 08/09/2019: Sidewalk removal on the east side of Main Street from 52 Avenue to 51 Avenue will occur on Sunday, August 11, weather permitting.

Sidewalk removal on 52 Avenue from Main Street to the back alleys is set to begin on Tuesday, August 6, weather permitting. Plywood pedways will be installed to ensure continued access to downtown businesses.
Historic Stony Plain Short Film set to Premiere at Outdoor Movie

The Town will be premiering the Stony Plain Short film project, “Israel Umbach and the Little Settlement That Could” at this year’s Outdoor Movie on August 15 at Heritage Park. The short-film depicts the noble story of the Town’s iconic sheriff and tax collector, Israel Umbach, chaining a Canadian Northern Railway train to its tracks for unpaid taxes. The movie was inspired by his story and town mural “Along the Fifth.”

Highway 779 July 29th Update

Alberta Transportation has advised they will be paving portions of the intersection at Provincial Highway 779 (48 Street) and Highway 628 (79 Avenue) beginning today resulting in single lane, alternating traffic during the day. Temporary lane closures will take place along Highway 628 to accommodate construction of curb and gutter and the new channelized right turn lane.

New School Site Servicing Construction to Begin in August

Construction is set to begin on the underground servicing for the new Stony Plain school site next week. Residents will notice an increase in traffic along 57th Avenue and construction noise during working hours. Construction is anticipated to be complete by late October (weather dependent).
