Downtown Redevelopment Update - June 25

Downtown Redevelopment construction is proceeding. ATCO has completed their work and is no longer on site. Storm sewer installation has begun. Starting June 25, the alley entrance at 50 Avenue will be closed for sidewalk pouring. Concrete crews should have this work completed by June 29. All affected businesses have been notified. All construction is weather dependent.
Umbach Dog Park Road Update - June 25

Construction work on the Umbach Dog Park road is going well with no delays. The road is on track to be completed by July 8. Temporary Dog Parks are available for canine use for the duration of the construction period. Please note that after June 30, the St John Paul II location will be available during the day as school will be out for the summer.
Fire Crews Respond to Westridge Curling Club Structure Fire

Update #2: Thursday, June 24, 2021 1:30 p.m.
Fire crews spent the night on fire watch. No major flare ups occurred. Insurance companies are bringing fencing to secure the site this afternoon. Fire Investigation will commence in the next 48 hours. Please avoid the area. The bulk of the buildings walls were pushed down with heavy equipment last night due to safety hazards. The clean up process will begin in the next few days.

Canada Day Fireworks Show Adjusted for New Guidelines

June 23, 2021 UPDATE: The Canada Day fireworks show at Heritage Park is being reworked to align with provincial public health guidelines.
As outlined in the Government of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan, all public health restrictions will be lifted on July 1. In response, the Canada Day fireworks show will no longer be a drive-in requiring registration, and instead will be open to the public with the grounds accessible by foot. Registration is not required. The show will begin at 10:30PM on July 1.

Councils Presented with the Tri-Municipal Regional Plan Report

The Councils of Parkland County, the City of Spruce Grove and the Town of Stony Plain heard presentations this week announcing the Tri-Municipal Regional Plan (TMRP) report.
