February is seen as the month of connection, with Valentine's Day on February 14 and the annual Family Day celebration on the third Monday. This year, residents are encouraged to not only connect with their families and friends, but to widen their circle of love to include neighbours and the community. Let’s use this opportunity to strengthen our community spirit.

Council Policy Review
Council repealed several policies and approved an addition to the Council Policy during last night’s meeting. After a review of all Town policies, Administration recommended a series of changes to existing Council policies. The policies recommended for repeal are no longer required as they have been developed into a procedure or included in a bylaw. The approved changes will be posted to the Town website.

January is Alzheimer's Awareness Month. Stony Plain FCSS wants everyone to know Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging. We are encouraging citizens to learn more about dementia and its stark impact on Canadians.
Today, more than half a million Canadians are living with dementia. In less than 12 years, that number will reach almost one million.

Town Prepares for 2021 Municipal Election
With the municipal election coming up this fall, the Town is beginning preparations and updating the Election Bylaw to align with the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA). During last night’s meeting, Council gave first, second, and third reading to an updated Election Bylaw.
The municipal election is scheduled to take place on October 18, 2021. More election information will be made available in the months ahead.
