I am devastated and heartbroken to learn of the mass grave of 215 children at the former Kamloops Residential School in in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation territory. The discovery of the children’s bodies is a reminder of the tremendous grief and trauma inflicted through the residential school system in our country. These children were taken away from their families, subjected to horrible conditions, unacceptable treatment and were never able to return home.

The latest Housing and Service Needs Estimate provides a snapshot in time of who is experiencing housing insecurity in the Tri-Municipal Region and the barriers to safe, affordable, stable housing that exist in our region.

Highway 779 Update - May 28

Alberta Transportation has provided the following update to construction on Provincial Highway 779.
The outside southbound lane is closed from 52 Ave to 55 Ave at which point traffic is moved to the outside lane and the inside southbound lane is closed from south of 55 Ave to Willow Park Road North.
The inside northbound lane is closed from Willow Park Road North to 55 Ave. North of 55 Ave traffic is moved to the inside lane and the outside lane is closed to 49 Ave.

49 Avenue Construction Update May 27

Major construction work continues on 49 Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to one way only (alternating) and construction will continue until June 4. Please use alternate routes and obey all traffic signage. All construction is weather dependent.
