Face Mask Bylaw Now in Effect as Town Placed on ‘Watch’ by Alberta Health Services

Stony Plain has officially been placed on a ‘Watch’ by Alberta Health Services (AHS) with 11 active cases (as of October 26) reported in the community, activating the Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings Bylaw 2638/H/20.
Masks are now mandatory in all indoor, enclosed public spaces as well as within public vehicles with the following exemptions:
- Persons under the age of 10;
- Persons unable to place, use, or remove a mask without assistance;

Highway 779 Construction Update, October 23

With winter well on its way, Alberta Transportation is looking to finish up a few items on the Highway 779 project and prepare shut down for the season.
The pedestrian crossing signals are being installed at Westerra Drive today and are expected to be operational by end of day.

‘Tis the season to trade toys for tickets! Stony Plain Enforcement Services’ annual Toys for Tickets program is retuning to town this holiday season. Arbour Day is returning to Stony Plain but this year, the green event is going virtual! With COVID-19 guidelines in place, the community tree planting event has been adjusted to a virtual format.
