Code of Conduct Bylaw Given Second and Third Reading
Council gave second and third reading to the Code of Conduct bylaw last night. The Code of Conduct bylaw was implemented in February of 2018 and creates a framework for governing the conduct of all Council members, Council committee members, and other bodies established by the Council. An external consultant examined the bylaw and provided recommendations for an update. With both a second and third reading, the updated bylaw has now been approved.

Sommerville Springs Demolition Comes to a Close

The demolition of the Sommerville Springs site is now complete. Demolition of the site included the tear down and clean up of 40 structures in the development as well as grading on site.
“We have been working alongside the owner of the development to safely demolish and clean up the site and ensure it no longer poses a threat to the safety of our residents,” says Town Manager Tom Goulden. “This has been a long process we are happy to see wrapped up.”

Highway 779 Construction Update, September 25

Construction work continues on Alberta Transportation’s Highway 779 project with a few closures to be noted. The intersections at 51 Avenue and 52 Avenue have been closed for construction. Pouring of the concrete sidewalk and curb and gutter began on Thursday, September 24 and will continue today (September 25) on 51 Avenue. Downtown Redevelopment Construction Update, September 24

Construction work downtown will see a few upcoming back lane closures. The back lane entrance behind ATB Financial has been closed for concrete work and is expected to reopen on Sunday, September 27. On the same Sunday, the lane behind CIBC will be closed until Thursday, October 1 to accommodate construction. In addition to back lane progress, work on the sub-base below the road structure is nearing completion.
St. John Paul II Access Road, Construction Update September 24

A happy day for St. John Paul II School and Willow Park residents – Willow Heights Drive is now complete! Streetlights have been installed and are soon to be energized. While some line painting work remains, the road and sidewalk are open for public use.
