Stony Plain COVID 19 Response Requires Staff Lay-Offs

After reviewing the impacts of COVID 19 on the Town’s services and finances, the Town has made decisions that require temporary lay-offs and changes to its workforce.
COVID 19 and the Public Health Directives regarding facility closures and social distancing have affected the Town since early March and this impact is expected to be ongoing through 2020. Effective April 21, 2020, the Government of Alberta will be temporarily suspending applications for the $30 million in emergency social services funding to charities, not-for-profits and civil society organizations to support their COVID-19 response. Government has received over 600 applications. Current applications are being reviewed, and approvals for urgent requests will occur before reopening intake of applications.
