Mayor William Choy elected Chair of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board

Stony Plain’s own Mayor William Choy has officially been elected as Chair of the Board for the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB). The EMRB is a regional growth management board working to implement the Region’s 30-year Growth Plan and foster economic sustainability. Read the EMRB news release for more information.

The Town of Stony Plain is now accepting nominations for the Ambassador of Action Business Award and the Award of Creative Excellence. The annual awards are designed to recognize leaders within the community and bring awareness and exposure to Stony Plain’s vibrant business and creative scene. Both awards will be presented at the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on October 23, 2020.

Highway 779 Construction Update August 7

Alberta Transportation has informed the Town construction between 51 Avenue and 55 Avenue will continue through to mid next week as part of the Highway 779 Construction Project.
Crews will be locating and hydrovacing the underground utilities in the back lanes on the east side of 48 Street between 52 Avenue and 56 Avenue on Saturday, August 8 and Monday, August 10. Downtown Redevelopment July 30 Update

Phase IV of Downtown Redevelopment is progressing with the recent warm weather. Underground work at 51 Avenue has been completed and surface work is underway. Road work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the construction season.
Highway 779 Construction Update July 28

The Town has been informed that access to 50 Avenue at the intersection of 48 Street is currently closed for Alberta Transportation’s Highway 779 construction project. The intersection is scheduled to be paved and reopened to traffic by end of day Wednesday, July 29. Following reopening, the access to 53 Avenue at the 48 Street intersection will be closed beginning Thursday, July 30 at 9AM. The access closure is estimated to remain in place for 10 days to accommodate widening construction of 48 Street.
