During their regular meeting on December 10, Town of Stony Plain Council gave second reading to Bylaw 2598/D&P/18 to adopt the new Tussic Area Structure Plan. Council also heard input from residents during a public hearing session.

The Tussic Area Structure Plan proposes a long-term vision for a new residential neighbourhood for the lands east of Golf Course Road, west of Veterans Boulevard, and north of Highway 628 (79th Avenue). It includes low to medium density residential areas, a few high density residential sites, and a commercial site off Golf Course Road. It also notes a location for a potential future school, several neighbourhood parks, and continuation of the Town’s trail system serving these lands.

The Tussic Area Structure Plan replaces a portion of the Southeast Area Structure Plan, which was adopted in Stony Plain in 1983. The proposed Tussic Area Structure Plan was first presented to the public during an open house in September and received first reading on October 9.

The Tussic Area Structure Plan will come back to Council for third reading after Administration and the Developer have had the opportunity to have discussions on changes Council would like to see in the plan.
