Family Fest is back and better than ever this year! Join us at Heritage Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 31 for a fun festive evening including a light dinner, dancing and — of course — fireworks!

Family Fest 2018 will include all of your favourite activities with the addition of a light dinner, a DJ’d dance, and a glass of sparkling apple cider to raise in a toast to 2019! Other event activities include horse-drawn wagon rides, a photo booth, popcorn, face painting, and bonfires.

The dinner, dance, and other activities run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the exception of horse and wagon rides, which end at 8:30 p.m. in preparation for the 9 p.m. firework show. Don’t forget to bring your skates and sleds; Town crews build an outdoor rink specifically for this event and there’s also an area for tobogganing.

“It’s wonderful to see residents of all ages come together in celebration of the New Year,” says Community Services Coordinator, Tevra Graham. “I can think of no better way to ring in 2019 than with your friends, family, and neighbours!”

“Family Fest is certainly one of the favourite events of the year, and the beautiful fireworks display is not to be missed,” says Mayor William Choy. “Grab your winter gear and skates and join us for a night of dancing and fun to celebrate the arrival of a brand new year!”

Remember to dress for the weather as activities will take place both indoors and outdoors. Horse and wagon rides are subject to cancellation in the event of severe cold. Onsite parking spaces are limited, so please consider carpooling or parking and walking. Family Fest is a free event, but please bring a non-perishable food-item or cash donation for the Parkland Food Bank.
