An update to the Highway 779 construction project has been provided by Alberta Transportation. Crews will be off site for the long weekend, starting today, Friday July 30 th , and returning to site on Tuesday August 3 rd . Starting August 4 th at 6am there will be a downtown alleyway entrance closure until 6am on August 11 th . The closure is for the alleyway that runs parallel to 50 th Street on the east side, specifically the entrance off 50 th Avenue (behind The Old Bar). Crews will be working on concrete replacement. All businesses impacted will be notified directly by the contractor.

The underground work for phase IV of the Downtown Redevelopment project continues. The electrical work for this phase is almost complete. Portions of the concrete sidewalks have been poured at all four corners of the intersection of 50 th Street and 50 th Avenue, and work on the bulb-outs is also underway. Umbach Road - Parking MapThe Umbach Dog Park road construction project is now complete! The road and park re-opened to the public on July 24 th , however contractors were still on site up until today. With the exception of some final landscaping work, crews are now done. Following the August long weekend, the Town will be mircosurfacing various roadways throughout Town. Microsurfacing is a pavement preservation treatment which includes applying asphalt emulsion, aggregate, water and cement powder to the existing roadway surface. This mixture of materials is used to preserve roadways that are currently in “good” condition.
