Registration for the 2023 program is now CLOSED! Registration for the 2024 clinic will open in February 2024.

What is CVITP?

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) has existed since 1971. It is a partnership between the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), community organizations and community volunteers. The Tax clinic is free. Volunteers will complete tax and benefit returns for eligible individuals to ensure they receive, or continue to receive, their entitled benefit payments.

Why CVITP?

Individuals need to do their taxes every year to qualify for many federal, provincial, and municipal programs and services. This is a difficult and sometimes overwhelming task for community members in need. Community volunteers can help to make this process easier. CVITP helps to address barriers of low literacy, lack of access to technology, lack of access to advice, low self-confidence and trust, complexity of gathering required documents. It connects community volunteers looking for a way to give back with an opportunity to help someone in need of professional services.
