How can I get from Stony Plain to Spruce Grove?

Route 565 provides service within Stony Plain and to and from Spruce Grove. You can board the bus at the nearest bus stop and take the route into Spruce Grove. You may get off at any one of three (3) stops in Spruce Grove: #8726 or #8048 on McLeod Ave, or #8584 at Jennifer Heil/TriLeisure Way. From the TriLeisure stop you can transfer to the Route 560 commuter or use Spruce Grove Transit's On-demand transit service to go to a specific destination. How can I get from Stony Plain to Edmonton?

Stony Plain Transit Route 565 provides service within Stony Plain and to and from Spruce Grove. From the Jennifer Heil/TriLeisure stop (#8584), you can transfer to the Spruce Grove Route 560 commuter to Edmonton. For trip details, view Commuter Transit to Edmonton, or call 780-962-7634 for assistance.

Are transfers included with local bus fare?

Only monthly passes include transferability. When using cash or tickets to ride on Route 565 (Stony Plain) or Route 560 (within Spruce Grove), no transfers are available. A second cash fare or ticket is required when boarding in order to transfer to another route.  

Can I use my Arc card? 

The Arc card (formerly Smart Fare) is an electronic fare payment system for transit agencies in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. Phase 1 of the pilot project started in January 2022 in 7 participating regions. ARC coming soon to Route 565. View Arc Card Project for more information.

Can I use an ETS transfer?

ETS transfers are not valid on Route 565 or Route 560. Riders must purchase ETS fares separately. Exception: Spruce Grove/ETS Integrated Pass

How can I get an Integrated Pass?

A monthly Spruce Grove/ETS Integrated Pass may be purchased at Spruce Grove Transit or by visiting Spruce Grove City Hall.

Does the commuter bus pick up in Stony Plain?

No, the commuter service only provides service between Spruce Grove (Route 560) and Edmonton/Acheson (Route 561). To connect with the commuter transit, first take Route 565 from Stony Plain to Spruce Grove. Check Spruce Grove Transit schedules.

Can I ride the commuter bus around Spruce Grove?

Yes. While the primary purpose of the commuter service is to provide service between Spruce Grove and Edmonton/Acheson, it is possible to ride a commuter bus from point to point within Spruce Grove and pay the local fare. Transfers are not issued; a new commuter fare would be required to travel into Edmonton.

What is on-demand transit?

On-demand transit service operates 6 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday within the City of Spruce Grove and allows customers to book their trips in advance either through the Pickup On-Demand app, online or by calling 780-962-8747 (6 am-7pm). On-demand transit has no set schedule or fixed route. While not a door-to-door service, the bus will stop at a virtual stop or an existing transit stop. The buses run according to customer requirements and trips are determined based on the most efficient routes.

Can I use the On-demand service in Stony Plain?
No. Currently, On-demand service only operates within the City of Spruce Grove.
How can I schedule an On-demand trip?
Download the Pickup On-Demand app, access it online or by call 780-962-8747 (6 am-7pm) to book your trip. The customer service agent will create your account and book your trip for you.
What if I don't have the On-Demand App?

You can call 780-962-8747. The customer service agent will create your account and book your trip for you. You can book your return trip at the same time that you book your pickup time.

How long do I have to wait for the bus?

The pick-up window is 10-minutes. Customers should be at their pick-up location prior to the pick-up window because the bus cannot wait.

What if I am Late? 

It is not possible for the bus to wait for passengers to arrive. To provide timely service to all customers, buses must maintain the schedule for picking up and dropping off passengers.

Can I change or cancel my On-demand booking?

Changes to bookings cannot be made. If you cannot make it to your pickup, cancel your trip as soon as possible using the Pickup On-Demand app or by calling 780-962-8747. Repeated late cancelations or no-shows may result in account suspension. 

Is the bus wheelchair accessible?

The bus has a retractable ramp that allows wheelchairs to roll easily into the bus.

Can I take a stroller on the bus?

Yes, depending on available capacity. Seats can fold up to allow access for strollers and there is additional room in the front of the bus.
