Stony Plain’s Annual Treasure Hunt and Large Item Pickup is here, once again. The Treasure Hunt will be held from May 3 to 5.  During this time, residents are invited to discard any unwanted household items on their curbs, and ‘hunt’ for new treasures of their own throughout their neighbourhood.

“The Treasure Hunt is just one of the many events we host throughout the year to help residents Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Participating in the Treasure Hunt is a great way to help us reach a waste diversion goal of 60%,” says Mayor William Choy. “Your trash may very well be another’s treasure! Don’t Just Trash It!”

Following the Treasure Hunt from May 6 to 10, the Town will collect the following items as part of the Large Item Pickup:

  • Furniture, washers, dryers, and kitchen appliances (Fridges and freezers must be empty).
  • Small equipment like lawn mowers and hedge trimmers (Oil and gas must be removed).
  • Barbeques
  • Bicycles and dismantled exercise equipment

Mattresses; tires; vehicle parts; construction materials; and household, electronic, and hazardous waste will not be collected.

Residents are reminded to only ‘hunt’ for items located on their neighbours’ curbs, as items on the driveway or lawn are not part of the Treasure Hunt.
