Elected officials play a critical role in shaping the future of Stony Plain. If you’re passionate about the community and committed to making a difference, this is your opportunity to step up and lead.
As per the Local Authorities Election Act, candidates must file their intent to run with the Town before accepting campaign contributions or incurring campaign expenses. Failure to comply with this requirement could result in fines or disqualification.
To help prospective candidates understand the nomination process and the responsibilities of being an elected official, the Town will host a Candidate Information Session in spring 2025. This session will provide an overview of what it means to serve on Council and how candidates can prepare for the election. More details will be announced in the new year, watch the Election webpage for details.
“Serving on Council is a unique opportunity to contribute to Stony Plain’s future,” says Returning Officer Teresa Olsen. “We encourage residents from all backgrounds and walks of life to consider running and bringing their voices to the table.”
