Adele Lapointe Honoured with 2019 Town of Stony Plain Matthew Claus Award
This year’s Matthew Claus Award was received by Adele Lapointe at the Town of Stony Plain Long Service Awards and Recognition Banquet. Lapointe is a Development Officer for The Town and has been a dedicated team member for 25 years.
For the last decade, Lapointe has established herself as a role model who exemplifies The Town’s Vision, Mission, and Leadership principles. Her hard work and commitment to Stony Plain and its residents shines in her strong work ethic, integrity, and compassion. A problem solver in the office, Lapointe is known for her innovative approach and a drive to find the best solution out there. Described as an “unsung hero” by a peer, Lapointe has played an integral part in what Stony Plain is today through her contribution to numerous projects such as (but certainly not limited to) the Old Town Community Plan and Land Use Bylaws.
In addition to serving our community as a Development Officer, Lapointe is an active member of the Alberta Development Officers Association and has served as the President and Education Representative for the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension. Her ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and collaboration has established her as a respected Development Officer in the industry.
Lapointe is not only a dedicated worker, but further a compassionate volunteer who has devoted many hours to groups like the North Central Co-op Board, Stony Plain Kinsmen, Rotary Club, KidSport Parkland, and Communities Empowering Youth for Success. She is a deeply involved member of our community and embraces the Town’s friendship with our sister town, Shikaoi, through her role as both chaperone and host.
“It is truly a pleasure to honour Adele Lapointe with this year’s Matthew Claus Award,” says Town Manager Tom Goulden. “Time and time again, Adele has demonstrated a strong commitment to our town. She is always looking for better ways to get the job done, and very often she is the last one to leave the office. Adele has left her mark on the Town and we are so grateful for everything she has done and continues to do for our community.”
Matthew Claus, former Manager of Planning for the Town of Stony Plain, passed away on April 19, 2016. Claus took pride in his work, treated his co-workers with respect, and believed in public service. The Town of Stony Plain founded the Matthew Claus Award to honour his legacy. The award is presented to an employee who demonstrates the qualities Matthew Claus was known and respected for.
