Celebrate the Season with Toys for Tickets in Stony Plain
STONY PLAIN, AB: In the spirit of giving, the Toys for Tickets program is back in Stony Plain for the 2023 holiday season. From November 3 to November 24, the Town invites residents to spread holiday cheer by contributing toy donations for the Stony Plain Kinsmen Club’s Christmas Hampers in lieu of traditional parking ticket payments.
From November 3 to November 24, parking tickets that bear a Toys for Tickets sticker will qualify for this program. Residents are encouraged to visit Town Hall during regular business hours to submit their toy payments and donations. While the program offers an alternative to paying some bylaw fines, individuals do not need a ticket to participate in this heartwarming initiative – all donations are welcome!
“Toys for Tickets exemplifies the power of our community uniting to bring additional warmth to the holiday season for those who require it most. You don’t need a ticket to donate – anyone can join the cause! This program has touched the lives of numerous families, making their celebrations more memorable, and we look forward to yet another year of spreading joy and gratitude in Stony Plain,” says Community Peace Officer Supervisor Tiffany Anderson.
The program’s guidelines and criteria remain consistent with previous years:
- Toys must be new and in the original packaging
- Toys must be suitable for children 16 years of age or younger
- Toy value must be equal to or greater than $25
- New gift cards valued at $25 or more will also be accepted
- A receipt must be included with each toy or gift card donation applying to bylaw ticket payments
- Only municipal parking tickets with a Stony Plain Bylaw tag are eligible for the program; fines issued for Emergency Access, Handicap, Commercial Vehicle, and Dangerous Goods parking violations are not eligible.
“In 2022, we were able to help 738 families, comprising over 2,000 individuals, in the Stony Plain and Parkland County West area. The Toys for Tickets program has been a wonderful partner in making Christmas brighter," says Ed Berney, Chairman of the Stony Plain Kinsmen Christmas Hampers. "The toys donated make the holiday season special for children and families, letting them know that they live in a caring community."
Toy payments and donations can be made at Town Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM until December 8. Additional information about the Toys for Tickets program on the Toys for Tickets webpage.
