STONY PLAIN, AB: The Town of Stony Plain is proud to announce that Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Tom Goulden has been awarded the Alberta Municipalities and Society of Local Government Managers (SLGM) Dedicated CAO Award.

This award is presented annually to a CAO who has served for over a decade and is recognized for their integrity, leadership, and outstanding contributions to municipal administration. Tom Goulden, who has served as Stony Plain's CAO for 14 years, exemplifies these qualities. During his tenure, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the Town’s administration, including the development of Stony Plain’s first Housing Strategy, guiding multiple Municipal Development and Strategic Plans, establishing a Leadership Principle Team, and leading the vision for the redevelopment of Main Street and Old Town South. Additionally, under his leadership, the Town has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CanFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association for 12 consecutive years, demonstrating ongoing commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Throughout his tenure, Tom has worked with four Councils, including six Mayors and 47 Council members, and hundreds of staff members. He is passionate about fostering skill development and leadership within the organization.
