Electronics Pilot Program Comes to Rotary Recycling Centre
Alberta Recycling is launching a two-year Electronics Pilot Program to expand the scope of electronic products Albertans can recycle without added consumer fees. In Stony Plain, the Rotary Recycling Centre will be adopting the updated list of acceptable electronics in line with the new program.
“The new pilot program is a great opportunity to encourage residents to dispose of their old electronics responsibly. Unfortunately, a lot of electronics end up in the trash and wind up in landfills when they could be recycled,” says Gregory Zirk, Manger of Operations. “We hope the updated guidelines and this free service will encourage more residents to be proactive about recycling their electronics.”
“There are a number of benefits that go along with electronics recycling and this program is a great addition to our Don’t Just Trash It! campaign,” says Mayor William Choy. “The Town is always looking for ways to improve our own sustainability and environmental friendliness. This is an excellent opportunity to clean out the basement and finally get rid of old devices that are collecting dust!”
