The Town of Stony Plain is implementing a fire restriction effective May 29, 2023. This will allow the use of approved recreational (back yard) fire pits, smokers, and other solid fuel appliances, with the normal conditions.  

Fire permits for open burning on the fringe farmland will be restricted until conditions improve.

Please ensure smoking materials are disposed of in appropriate metal containers and kept wet. Do not throw cigarettes into backyard vegetation or from vehicles onto the roadway. Do not extinguish cigarettes into flowerpots, planters, or organic material at any time.

Continue to use caution when cutting grass, doing any “hot work”, or discharging family grade fireworks, to avoid igniting dry vegetation.
