STONY PLAIN, AB: Summer evenings just got a whole lot cozier! Cultural Campfires are returning to Shikaoi Park to bring the spark of stories, culture, and connection to your Thursday nights. From July 3 to August 21, bring a lawn chair (or a blanket!) and get swept away by powerful tales from cultures around the world under the open sky from 7 PM to 8 PM.

Hear stories from local storytellers and enjoy this free, family-friendly series celebrating the richness of our community through the art of storytelling. Each week features a new cultural perspective, inviting listeners to explore different heritages, traditions, and experiences that help us understand each other just a little better.

“Storytelling has such a unique ability to bring people together,” says Mayor William Choy. “These campfires have sparked amazing cross-cultural connections over the years, and I highly encourage everyone to come out, listen, and learn from the voices in our community.”

“Each campfire is more than just an event; it’s a space where people meet, share, and connect,” says Community Development Officer Akorfa Mawutor. “It’s where understanding, acceptance, and compassion grow.”

The first flame of the season will be lit on Thursday, July 3, featuring inspiring stories of Inuit Heritage. Bring your friends, family, and a cozy blanket. It’s going to be an unforgettable summer!

Admission is free, and while there’s some seating available in the park, we recommend bringing your own chair to stay comfy.
