RCMP Municipal Crime Statistics Report Presentation
At last night’s Council Meeting, Inspector Kevin McGillivray provided a presentation of the crime statistics for the Town of Stony Plain for the months of May to October 2024. The RCMP presents crime statistics to Council twice, annually. Inspector McGillivray highlighted the increase in RCMP community involvement, tips to reduce the chance of having your vehicle stolen and plugged the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta (Parkland RCMP Detachment) Facebook page for crime prevention tips, crime trends, emergency alerts, and more. Council accepted the RCMP Municipal Crime Statistics Report for information.

WestView Health Centre Update
Ellen Elliott, Site Director and Heather Durstling, Executive Director Suburban Hospitals from WestView Health Centre provided an update to Council on the facility and services to Stony Plain and the region.

Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Society & Centre Presentation
Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre is a gathering place that is welcoming to all where aspects of Indigenous culture and the arts are retained, taught, and shared with everyone. Hali Fitzpatrick, Executive Director provided an update to Council highlighting 2024 activities, programs, and facility growth.

Stony Plain & Parkland Pioneer Museum Presentation
The Pioneer Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, and share the stories and artifacts that define our community’s heritage. This ensures that the region’s rich cultural legacy remains vibrant and alive for future generations. Roger Pederson, President, and David Fielhaber, Executive Director, provided an update to Council on the museum’s 2024 visitation, expansion project, and other highlights.

Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce Visitor Information Centre Update
The Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce provides visitor information services on behalf of the Town of Stony Plain. The Visitor Information Centre (VIC) operates year-round, providing visitors and locals with information on attractions, accommodation, events, and activities in Stony Plain and area. Norman Leach, Executive Director, provided an update to Council including visitor statistics, event participation, and other information.

Water Loss and Water Meter Replacement Program Update Accepted for Information
Administration has been actively working to reduce water loss within the Town’s water system. The issue of water loss was brought to the Town’s attention in December 2021, subsequently reported to Council in March 2022, July 2023, and March 2024. Administration has been closely monitoring the situation since and has taken initiative to address it, including continued focus on the ongoing water meter replacement program which began in 2024. A notable reduction has been reported in the data collected over the past 10 months. Council accepted the update for information.
