Alberta Transportation’s (AT) Highway 779 construction project continues through the week and crews are preparing for a change in weather conditions as we enter the winter season.
Crews continue to work on the installation of the streetlights along the west side of 48 Street. All streetlights are scheduled to be installed and operational by mid-November.
Crews are currently working on repaving the northbound lanes between Willow Park Road North and 55 Avenue. Any unfished paving work will be continued on Monday, October 19. On the same Monday, crews will begin placing granular base on the last section of the multi-use trail between 55 Avenue and 53 Avenue on the west side of 48 Street. Crews will further begin finish grading and cleaning up along the sidewalks and multi-use trail with work continuing throughout the week. With weather conditions worsening, construction season is drawing to a close. AT has informed the Town that crews will start preparing the site next week for winter shut down.
On Tuesday, October 20, touch-ups along the edge of the new pavement and at the driveway tie-ins in the back lanes along the east side of 48 Street between 56 Avenue and 52 Avenue will begin. It is anticipated this work will take two days. Temporary line painting of the roadway lines and crosswalks is being scheduled for later in the month.
