Alberta Transportation’s Highway 779 construction project continues forward with the 55 Avenue intersection being reopened to traffic on Tuesday, September 15. Paving has also been completed in the back lanes on the east side of 48 Street. Additional finish grading and tying in of the driveways with gravel will be completed later this week.

On Friday, September 18, the 51 Avenue intersection will be closed at 9AM to accommodate the widening of 48 Street through the intersection. Excavation and removals will take place on Friday and Saturday and placement of the granular base course will start on Monday, September 21.

Beginning Monday, September 21, the intersection at 52 Avenue will be closed to accommodate realignment of the west side of the intersection. Excavation and removals at this intersection are scheduled from Monday through to Wednesday. Placement of the granular base course will start on Thursday at this location.

Work will also resume on the installation of the streetlighting on the west side of 48 Street this upcoming Monday. Grading and construction of the granular base course on the multi-use trails on the west side of 48 Street between 57 Avenue and 49 Avenue will resume on Wednesday or Thursday next week (September 23 or September 24).
