Highway 779 Update - July 15
Alberta Transportation has updated the Town on the Highway 779 construction project. The milling and paving of the northbound lanes was completed on Wednesday, July 14.
Traffic has now been moved to the outside, curb lane in both directions, between 49 and 55 Avenue, and the inside lanes and median areas closed to traffic to accommodate the construction of the medians. Workers and equipment will be present in the closed areas laying out and constructing the medians. As such, traffic may not drive through barricaded areas.
The intersections at 51, 53 and 54 Avenue are now closed to left turns and will only accommodate through or right turning traffic. All directional traffic (through, right turn and left turn) will be still be accommodated at 49, 50, 52 and 55 Avenue.
Saw cutting for asphalt removals in the median area between 55 and 52 Avenue will be completed Thursday, July 15 and Friday, July 16.
Asphalt removal and excavation of the landscaping area in the median between 55 and 52 Avenue will take place between Saturday, July 17 and Friday, July 23.
Layout and installation of dowels for the median curb between 52 and 49 Avenue, will take place between Monday, July 19 and Wednesday, July 21.
Road marking will occur on Friday, July 16 on stop bars and pedestrian crosswalks between Willow Park Road South and 55 Avenue.
Please remember that this is an active construction zone and worker safety is of primary concern. Slow down in construction areas and respect all traffic signals and flag persons. Do not remove barriers and do not drive through any barricaded areas.
