Horse and Wagon Mural Tours Return to Stony Plain this Summer
STONY PLAIN, AB: Horse and Wagon Mural Tours are returning to Stony Plain this summer, offering residents and visitors a chance to explore local history and public art in a unique way. Hop aboard a horse-drawn wagon and journey through Downtown Stony Plain to learn the stories behind the town’s iconic murals.
Organized in partnership between the Town of Stony Plain and Red Brick Common, the tours offer a unique opportunity to explore local history through art. Along the route, a local guide will share insights into the people, events, and traditions captured in over 40 murals that make up Stony Plain’s “Outdoor Art Gallery.”
“Stony Plain has a rich history, and the Horse and Wagon Mural Tours bring that story to life,” says Mayor William Choy. “The tours offer a chance to reflect on the stories that shaped Stony Plain and continue to define who we are.”
“Whether you’re visiting Stony Plain for the first time or rediscovering familiar places, these tours offer something special for everyone,” says Culture and Tourism Development Officer Chantelle Laberge. “It’s one of the most memorable ways to experience our murals and learn about the people and stories behind them.”
The summer tour series will be offered at 11:30 AM and 1 PM on the following dates:
- July 12
- July 26
- August 9
- August 23
Horse and Wagon Mural Tours are limited to 14 riders per wagon and tickets are $15 per person. Visit Art in Public Places for booking information.
