Midsummer Thursdays in Downtown Stony Plain - Final Event of the Season Coming to You on August 17
STONY PLAIN, AB: After two exhilarating events that shattered attendance records and much anticipation, we are excited to gather in Downtown Stony Plain for the third and final Midsummer Thursdays event on August 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. With the June 15 gathering boasting an unprecedented turnout of 2,000 attendees, and the July 20 event surpassing all expectations with over 3,000 enthusiastic visitors, the August 17 celebration promises to deliver another unforgettable evening of food, attractions, and live entertainment.
“Downtown Stony Plain has truly become the go-to retail destination in Stony Plain, and we are thrilled to present the conclusion to this year’s Midsummer Thursdays,” says Mayor William Choy. “The overwhelming support form our community and businesses has made these events a resounding success. As we approach the final event of the summer, we invite everyone to join us one last time in celebrating Downtown Stony Plain and the business community.”
As we bid farewell to the summer season, Downtown Stony Plain will be alive with a bustling atmosphere as the streetscape is transformed into a one-of-a-kind street market with over 50 businesses showcasing products and offerings. In addition to Downtown Stony Plain’s staple restaurants, attendees can expect to savour a delectable array of food options from beloved vendors like Blue Ice Cream Truck, Boss Dogz, BT’s Lunchbox, El Mero Mero, North Cenral Co-op and more!
The excitement doesn’t end with delicious food, as there will be a delightful lineup of attractions, including Henna by Sukhi, Facepainting by Katie Chiasson, Balloon Artist, and Joey from One Red Nose! Live music performances by local talents like Ken Muzia, Chris Arnold, Songbird Rising, Laurelai, and Beth Portman will set the perfect soundtrack for the evening.
“August 17 is a date you don’t want to miss! Attendees can expect a jam-packed evening filled with entertainment and fun for all ages, including performances from new artists,” says Culture & Tourism Liaison, Kate Huxter. “Come join us and be part of the vibrant energy that has made Downtown Stony Plain a premier summer destination.”
"We extend the opportunity to local businesses to seize this final opportunity to be part of the excitement of Midsummer Thursdays," says Economic Development Specialist, Kaleb Brink. "With booth applications open until August 14, businesses can tap into a captive audience and elevate their brand presence while contributing to the vibrant spirit of Downtown Stony Plain.”
